The Philippines is a mall crazy nation with the repertoire of having two of its malls listed under the list of ten largest malls in the world.
Competition has driven shopping mall developers in the Philippines to build BIGGER, better, and newer malls year after year to attract the large market of Filipino shoppers.
Here’s a list of the ten largest malls in the Philippines according to gross floor area.
SM Southmall (10th)
Las Pinas City, Metro Manila. Gross floor area: 205,120 sq.m.
Robinsons Galleria (9th)
Quezon City, Metro Manila. Gross floor area – 216,000 sq.m.

Robinsons Manila (8th)
Manila City, Metro Manila. Gross floor area: 241,000 sq.m.

Glorietta (7th)
Makati City, Metro Manila. Gross floor area: approximately 250,000 sq.m.

Greenbelt (6th)
Makati City, Metro Manila. Gross floor area: approximately 250,000 sq.m.

Trinoma (5th)
Quezon City, Metro Manila. Gross floor area: approximately 250,000 sq.m.

SM Cebu City (4th)

SM Megamall (3rd)
Mandaluyong, Metro Manila. Gross floor area: 348,056 sq.m.

SM Mall of Asia (2nd)
Pasay City, Metro Manila. Gross floor area: 406,961 sq.m.

SM North EDSA (1st)
North EDSA, Quezon City, Metro Manila. Gross floor area: 482,878 sq.m.

Five malls (including the topmost three) are owned and managed by SM Prime Holdings, undoubtedly the biggest mall developer in the Philippines. Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) and Ayala Land follow.
Giant malls located in Metro Manila dominate the list. It is no surprise with over 11.5 million residents within its boundaries and over 20M living in its greater metropolitan area. The only mall located outside Metro Manila is SM City Cebu.
Future Developments
Plans are underway to turn SM Megamall in Ortigas, Metro Manila as the Philippines’ largest yet. A major redevelopment of its three hectare parking lot with pave the way for an expansion that will make the mall even bigger than SM North EDSA.
A future contender in the list is a proposed mall in called “SM Seaside Cebu City.” Located at the South Road Properties (SRP) in Metro Cebu, the new mall is planned to become the biggest mall outside Metro Manila and will kick start the massive development in SRP.
