Dumaguete City Attractions

Dumaguete derived its name from the vernacular word “dumaguit” or “to snatch” because pirates and Moros often swooped down on this town to snatch women and loot the populace during the Spanish colonial period. Today, visitors still get snatched, not by raiders, but by the natural allure and laid-back pace of life.
