There are a couple of options when traveling to Dumaguete City, Oriental Negros from Cebu or from Cebu to Dumaguete. Dumaguete City is located in the southeastern part of Negros Island while Cebu City is at the center of Cebu Island’s eastern coast, the closest distance between both islands is at the Tañon Strait situated near the southern tip of Cebu Island.
By air via Cebu Pacific Airlines – 45mins / P788
The fastest is to take a plane from Mactan (Cebu) International Airport to Sibulan (Dumaguete) Airport. Cebu Pacific Airlines flies one daily to service the route. Cebu Pacific Go-lite Promo Fare tickets are being sold for only P788 one-way.

Ocean Jet (Fastcraft) via Tagbilaran – 4 hours / P900
Passengers can take Ocean Jet’s fast ferry service to go Dumaguete. Ocean Jet fastcrafts are stationed at Pier 1, Cebu City. The whole trip lasts 4 hours and costs P900/P1200.

Dumaguete – Cebu via Tagbilaran schedule

Ceres Bus Line (Bus-Ferry-Bus) – 4 to 5 hours / P300+
Go to the South Bus Terminal in Cebu and take Ceres Liner Bus directly to Dumaguete. First Ceres bus trip leaves Cebu at 1:45 am and the last trip departs at 6 pm. On the other hand, the first bus for Cebu from Dumaguete leaves at 3:15 am and the last bus at 2:00 pm. There are several trips in between. The bus is using Maayo Shipping Lines Bato-Tampo to cross the Tañon Strait. Total fare is P300++.

Via Liloan / Port (Van– Fastcraft-Bus) –4 to 5 hours / P250-P300
A bit cheaper and a faster option than going direct via Ceres Bus but is only recommended for passengers who are traveling light. Go to South Bus Terminal in Cebu and take a bus or van (V-hire) to Liloan Port. Then from there, take a fastcraft / pumpboat (motorized outrigger), to Sibulan Port. From the highway, ride a bus to Dumaguete City. There are buses / fastcrafts / pumpboats leaving every hour. Total fare is around P250-P300.
Via Bato / Tampi Port (Van–RoRo-Bus – 4 to 5 hours / P250-P300
Same as above but from the South Bus Terminal in Cebu, take a bus to Bato Port (Santander, Cebu). You will be disembarking in Tampi Port in Amlan at the Oriental Negros side. There are less pumpboats / fastcrafts at this route but there’s a Maayo Shipping Roll-on Roll-of service here if you’re bringing your car/bike with you.
