Ilocos Sur Province is located in the northern part of Luzon Island in the Philippines. Its capital is Vigan City.
Ilocos Sur is where the Ilocos Region’s myriad of cultures and histories converge to become a living museum of a spirited past. The historic city of Vigan, inscribed in UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1999, was established in the 16th century. Vigan is the best preserved example of a planned Spanish colonial town in Asia.
