Top 10 Biggest Malls in the Philippines in 2009

The Philippines is definitely one of the most mall crazy nations having three malls listed under the list of ten biggest/largest malls in the world. Competition has driven shopping mall developers in the Philippines to build bigger, better, and newer malls year after year to attract the large market of Filipino shoppers.

List of 10 Largest Malls in the Philippines according to gross floor area

1. SM North EDSA (North EDSA, Quezon City, Metro Manila) – 460,000m²

2. SM Mall of Asia (Pasay City, Metro Manila) – 407,101m²

3. SM Megamall (Mandaluyong, Metro Manila) – 346,679m²

The rest of the malls are not listed in order because Ayala malls have not released official data on the floor area of their malls.

SM Cebu City (Cebu City, Metro Manila)- 268,611m²

SM Southmall (Las Piñas City, Metro Manila)- 205,120m²

Robinsons Manila (Manila City, Metro Manila) – 241,000m²

Robinsons Galleria (Quezon City, Metro Manila) – 216,000m²

Glorietta (Makati City, Metro Manila) – approximately 250,000mm²

Greenbelt (Makati City, Metro Manila) – approximately 250,000m²

Trinoma (Quezon City, Metro Manila) – approximately 250,000m²

 

Five malls (including the top three) are owned by SM Malls, undoubtedly the biggest mall developer in the Philippines, followed by Robinsons and Ayala. The only mall in the list located outside Metro Manila is SM City Cebu located in Cebu City, the country’s second largest urban center.
